Legal notice

In brief

  • This website sets no cookies, uses no audience-measurement tool or tracker, and loads no resource from another website.
  • The only personal data it collects is your email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter. Subscription is a two-step process (double opt-in) handled by Brevo, our email service provider, within the European Union.
  • You can unsubscribe at any time and exercise your rights by writing to contact@williamtharrisonbooks.com.

Data controller

The data controller is Clément HYNAUX, a self-employed professional (autónomo) established in Spain. Professional contact details are available in the legal notice. Contact: contact@williamtharrisonbooks.com.

Cookies, audience measurement and trackers

None. This website:

  • sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser (no local storage, no advertising identifier, no fingerprinting);
  • uses neither Google Analytics nor any other audience-measurement tool, tracking pixel or ad network;
  • loads no script, font, image or video from another website: everything is served from williamtharrisonbooks.com;
  • uses no third-party CAPTCHA: the form is protected by a hidden field.

As there is nothing to accept, there is no cookie banner. Links to Amazon and other online bookshops are plain links: no data is sent to those sites until you click, and the links contain no affiliate identifier or tracking parameter. Once you are on their site, their own rules apply.

Data we collect

When you subscribe to the newsletter through the form on this website, we collect:

  • your email address;
  • your first name, only if the form asks for it, and optionally;
  • your consent to receive our emails (checkbox).

When you submit the form, the website automatically adds the language of the page (French or English), the source of the subscription (“site-web”), the version of the consent text and the date of the request.

The website’s server passes this request straight to Brevo and does not keep it: your address and first name are not stored in any file or database of this website.

Purposes and legal basis

Your data is used only to:

  • record your double opt-in subscription and keep proof of your consent;
  • send you William T. Harrison’s newsletter.

No automated decision is made from this data.

We process your data on the basis of your consent, in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You may withdraw it at any time, without affecting what was done before the withdrawal.

Double opt-in and emails

After you submit the form, you receive a confirmation email. Your subscription is valid only once you have clicked the link it contains; you then land on a confirmation page of this website. Without that click, you do not receive the newsletter.

Brevo records the sending and delivery of each email.

Recipients and location

  • Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), our email service provider, acts as a processor: it receives the data above to manage your subscription and send the emails. Its hosting is located within the European Union. For more information, read Brevo’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
  • Hostinger International Ltd., our hosting provider (see the legal notice), runs the website’s server and the contact mailbox. Like any host, it may keep technical connection logs (IP address, date and time, page requested) for the security and proper operation of the server.

Your data is not shared with any other recipient.

Retention period

  • Newsletter subscription: your data is kept until you unsubscribe or, if you do not interact with our emails, for a maximum of three years of inactivity.
  • After you unsubscribe, the emails stop. You can ask for your contact to be deleted completely at any time.
  • Emails sent to the contact address: see the next section.

Emails sent to the contact address

The website has no contact form. If you write to contact@williamtharrisonbooks.com, your email address and your message are used only to reply to you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering the requests sent to us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, erase, transfer and object to the processing of your data, and the right to restrict its processing.

  • To unsubscribe, click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each newsletter email, or write to contact@williamtharrisonbooks.com.
  • To exercise your other rights, contact: contact@williamtharrisonbooks.com. We reply within one month at most.
  • Complaints: if you believe your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For a controller established in Spain, this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD, aepd.es (opens in a new tab)); you may also contact the authority of your country of residence.

Security

The connection to this website and the transmission of your request to Brevo are encrypted (HTTPS).

Changes

This policy may change, for example if a new tool were added to the website.
